The concept
Fastest and most powerful Audi TT 8N: MTM bimotoAfactory was up with the 3.2 V6 250 hp and 250 km/h. Once Audi made the TT 2.7T B5 RS with 380hp and almost 300km/h. But Motoren Technik Mayer GmbH (MTM) has far surpassed all this with the MTM Bimoto. How far were they able to get and how did they tackle it?
The first version with 652 hp
The first version with 652 hpIn 2002, the story began with the first version. The one that still looked reasonably like a normal TT. At least if you disregard the 3 fist-thick exhausts in the middle rear for a moment.

It was only when you opened the tailgate that the surprise came: a 1.8T engine was fitted here too. This simply doubled the power available from the already firmly tuned 1.8T. Because of the 2 engines, there were:

At the time, a small series production run of 10 was being seriously considered by MTM. The price quoted for it in 2002 was a sloppy € 250,000.
The second version, now with 840 hp
The second version of the Bimoto had to raise the bar. MTM's goal was to reach 400 km/h. As a result, the 2x 1.8T engines were further tuned to 420 hp each. In total, this “base” set-up came to 840 hp and 374 km/h (was 340 km/h). This version also got the typical snorkel on the roof to optimise cooling of the rear engine.

This version just let MTM drive it on public roads (without the snorkel):
The third version, it had to be faster, on to 400 km/h
The third version, it had to be faster, on to 400 km/hTo break the 400 km/h mark, the power was boosted some more to 1,002 hp strong. This eventually resulted in a record of +390 km/h July 2007 achieved at the Nardò Ring in the province of Lecce, Italy. This was done with additional stabiliser fin. And a livery (silver/green) matched with a new sponsor.

The package was faster than the McLaren F1 and more powerful than the Bugatti Veyron. It ticks off 0-200 km/h (8.9 sec) almost as smoothly as the standard TT with 150 hp gets to 100 km/h (8.6 sec).
In public again, after all
Until recently, it seemed that the Bimoto had been preserved in its silver-green wrap, spending its days in MTM's basements. However in May 2024, the dust was taken off. Was the wrap removed and the 3rd version with 1,002 hp was present at the Hockenheimring at the Hockenheim historic DTM revival. And there it became clear that MTM achieved 393 km/h at ATP Papenburg auto-test track. We say on to the 400 km/h.
Finally
Despite the different colour schemes. Despite the different power versions. In the end, all versions were one and the same TT.
