Audi TT 8N Steering wheels

Apart from differences in leather colour such as Satin Black and Moccasin, the physical shape of the steering wheel has also changed. As a result, Airbags of both generations, for example, are not interchangeable. The first version up to August 2000 has a more oblique transition from steering wheel to airbag. The second version from August 2000 onwards has a straighter transition between steering wheel and airbag. In addition, the first version has a redAudi logo at the bottom of the steering wheel.

There are also steering wheels for the TTs with TipTronic and DSG automatics, where it is possible to shift gears on the steering wheel. These have the same transition between steering wheel and airbag as the 2nd version.

Based on generation, colour leather, stitching, and shift functionality, there ended up being more than 30 variants of TT steering wheels. Like, for example, the perforated S line steering wheel. In the last 2 years of production alone, there are no less than 32 variants in the parts catalogue (ETKA).

Logos in the steering wheel

The version of the steering wheel up to August 2000 is often confused with the S line steering wheel. The logo it contains is not the S line logo. S line was also not available for the TT 8N in those days. But was in those days a logo for the Audi sport models. Kind of similar could then also be found in, for example, the S4 and S8 D2.

Only from May 2004 was the perforated steering wheel fitted with an S line logo, which then looks like the picture opposite. Before that, the S line steering wheel had no logo.
