The idea

In 2001, Magna Steyr had a brilliant idea: a perfect symbiosis between the TT Coupé and the TT Roadster. With the roof open, the TT-Open Sky offers the ultimate driving pleasure of a Roadster, while the closed roof guarantees the whisper-quiet driving experience of a Coupé. In short:

  • Normal dynamic driving comfort and safety
  • Low wind noise at high speed
  • Spacious design
  • Suitable for winter

The targa concept for the TT was presented at the IAA in Frankfurt in 2001.

 The concept

Simplicity was at the heart of developing this idea. The aim was to realise the open driving experience in no time. This was made possible by creating two roof halves that:

  • Were quickly removable
  • Manageable due to a honeycomb design
  • Easy to store in the boot

Magna Steyr emphasised more variety in driving pleasure, such as holidays for two with luggage, daily city driving, and touring.

Unfortunately, it was only two copies: one in Sea Silver and one in Denim Blue.

To be seen in real life

Want to admire this amazing concept for yourself? Then take a road trip to the Johan Puch Museum, where the Sea Silver TT-Open Sky can be seen. So if you are near Graz Austria then this is a must have visit.

And of course tips around the Denim blue are more than welcome!
