Some details & facts surrounding the introduction of the TT Roadster

  • The first Roadster delivered still entered the market without a spoiler. Even though this was short-lived due to the much-needed safety update to the TT that went into production from week 50 1999. Roadster without spoiler are thus a one-off.
  • The oldest registered (in 2024) Dutch Roadster dates from 8 November 1999. Who knows one of the copies of the sales acquaintance.
  • A Dutchman involved in the hardtop development has indicated that the original idea was to deliver the Roadster with hardtop as standard. However, the Turkish supplier was unable to actually deliver the expected production numbers.
  • The showroom introduction of the TT Roadster coincided with Audi's 100th anniversary. Its origins go back to the founding of August Horch & Cie by August Horch and Salli Herz in November 1899. Horch merged with DKW, Audi and Wanderer in the 1930s to form the then Auto Union.
