Looking at the various photos of the TTS Roadster over the years, one notable difference can be seen. In late 1995, the TTS Roadster appeared with 6-spoke 18-inch rims in a titanium colour. This was to emphasise its sporty character. However, in more recent photos and appearances in public (for example, in 2019), we see the TTS on 17-inch parabolic-type rims every time.
‘Why is the TTS no longer on its original rims?’
was thus also the question to Peter Schreyer when meeting in September 2023 for the Autovisie report.
As it turns out, the original 18-inch rims of the TTS were not suitable for transporting the car due to its limited carrying capacity. So every time it had to be transported, the rims were replaced by another set. Sometime in the past, this meant that the original set was lost or .... And so this is the reason that henceforth the TTS stands on a different set of rims and that is the 17-inch parabola.
2 options seem obvious today. Either they are gathering dust in Audi Tradition storage somewhere in a forgotten place. Or someone owns 4 unique rims in their collection.
