As an upgrade for the active speaker system (standard in the Netherlands | an option in Germany), it was possible to upgrade to a BOSE Sound system.
The BOSE sound system can be recognised by the BOSE logo in the grilles of the door speakers. Over the years, several generations of the BOSE sound system can be found in the TT. Later generations of BOSE sound system
From July 2001 (2002 model year) with the arrival of the chorus II and concert II, the telephone input moved from the amplifier to the radio. In September 2002, the BOSE sound system was fitted with an additional microphone in the interior for dynamic driving noise compensation. These BOSE sound systems feature a new type of amplifier recognisable by the silver colour instead of matte black and a new plug (see example of Roadster version).
As of model year 2004, specifically for the Roadster there is also the signal from the convertible roof added to the dynamic driving sound compensation, Depending on open or closed driving, the equaliser in the BOSE amplifier adjusts the sound.
