Driver's Information System not always standard


In the early years an option (around €300 in the Netherlands) or part of the navigation system available from late 1999. When it became standard depends on the country. German TTs have had the Driver Information System (BIS) as standard since the 2nd half of 2002. In the Netherlands, this was already a year earlier (2nd half of 2001).

Always displaying:

  • Auto-Check-Control; the OK in your display at start-up
    - Red symbols; danger
    - Yellow symbols; warnings
  • Outdoor temperature
  • Door and tailgate warning

Standard display

Additional to Driver's Information System (operated via right-hand steering wheel switch)

  • CD and radio information (with original radio)
    - Radio frequency
    - CD track (Radio with CD function and current CD (changer)
  • 2 adjustable speed signals
  • Navigation instructions (with original navigation)
  • On-board computer with notification of:
    - Service interval
    - Current fuel consumption
    - Driving range
    - Driving time
    - Average consumption
    - Average driving speed
    • Unfortunately, the display is not a strong point of the TT 8N. Pixel failures occur regularly and require replacement.


Colours Driver's Informatie System

Not standard but possible. A colour driver information system that also talks to the CAN bus and can therefore display a lot of information. If you search around on the internet, you will see that this is regularly built in and offers quite nice possibilities.
