Getting to know the Roadster in the snow

For the Audi salespeople, it was not an international introduction this time but just in the middle of November in the Netherlands at Lukkien in Ede. Mid-November was unfortunately not Roadster weather with an average temperature around freezing point, even 5cm of snow on the Veluwe. So cold that Pon (Importer in the netherlands) had hurriedly arranged winter jackets for the sales staff so that they could get to know the TT Roadster warmly on the road.

TT Assen for Dutch buyers

A year after the showroom introduction of TT Coupé, Audi Netherlands came up with the idea of organising its own TT Assen. Not for motorbikes but for Dutch buyers of the TT Coupé. A 3-day event in mid-October 1999.
200 of the 800 registered TT Coupé buyers accepted the invitation to experience the TT Coupé on the track for a day under the guidance of former rally driver and Audi quattro instructor Paul Maaskant. Besides the familiar stuff like tips on braking, shifting and steering, the TTs were used to practise evasive manoeuvres and anti-skid training. As icing on the cake, it ended with free driving on the Assen circuit.

One of the participating TT's still active
24 years (2024) after the event at the Assen TT, at least one of the TT ‘s (35-DL-GS) is still active on Dutch roads and has already been enjoyed by eight private owners.
