After the ‘limited’ Audi TT S line (Europe) in September 2001, the S line sports package became a fantastic option from November 2002!
for the Audi TT 8N.

The S line sports package
The S line sports package, designed for ultimate optical and driving dynamics, included:

  • Optical: Unmistakable due to the cool xenon headlights with titanium-coloured inlay, available in the striking colours Misanorot-Perleffekt (LZ3M) and Avussilber-Perleffekt (LY7J).
  • Interior: A steering wheel and gear knob in luxurious perforated leather (optional aluminium gear knob), stylish seats upholstered in S line fabric ‘speed’ and leather side cheeks. Optional: chic Soul black or silver leather seat covers.
  • Suspension: Lowered suspension (20 mm) by quattro GmbH and impressive 18-inch alloy wheels with 9 spokes that guarantee a sporty look.

S line exterior package
In the second half of 2003, an S line exterior package was made available with the introduction of the Audi TT V6 3.2. This package brought out a stunning optical difference for the S line versions. The S line exterior package included:

  • Front bumper with additional air intakes on the sides
  • Middle air intake with the coarser louvres and the air intakes on the left and right with a honeycomb design
  • Imposing rear spoiler with additional add-on piece (the part it self is one piece 8N7 827 933 E GRU)
  • Sporty diffuser in honeycomb design
  • S line badges on left and right flanks and door sill panels

The front bumper and rear spoiler of the S line exterior package are sought-after modifications for standard Audi TT 8Ns

The price in the Netherlands

Both S line packages were not real price picks in The Netherlands. Early 2005 option prices were:

  • S line sports package cost extra from €4,183 (Germany €2,400*) for the 225 hp to €5,927 (Germany €3,400*) for the 150 hp
  • S line exterior package cost extra € 2,267 (Germany € 1,300*)

If you combined both you got a discount of €349 but the total receipt was just a minimum of €6,101.
For the 3.2, the S line package was not available, it already came with the exterior package as standard.

Porsche 930 Turbo inspiration
In an interview with Peter Schreyer (August 2023), it became clear where the Audi designer got the inspiration for the larger rear spoiler of the Audi TT V6 3.2 and the S line exterior package. The Porsche 930 Turbo had been the model for the extra piece on the rear spoiler.

Whereas with the Porsche 930 Turbo it was often perceived as a bit over the top, we can say that the Audi designers kept it all more modest.

* German prices were lower in those days due to the lack of 45% BPM (special Dutch tax for cars) and a lower German VAT rate (16% vs 19%)
